When we look at anonymized, opt-in session data, the honest answer is closer to forty five minutes. That gap explains a lot of productivity guilt.

The case for 45

Classic pomodoro slices work into 25 minute pieces, which is great for chores and brutal for deep work: you get interrupted right as the problem loads into your head. Ninety minute blocks sound heroic and mostly end in tab hopping.

Forty five minutes is long enough to sink into a problem and short enough to finish before your attention files a complaint. Two or three of these sessions with real breaks beat any eight hour grind.

Focus is not a personality trait. It is a schedule decision.

How Loop uses it

New focus sessions default to 45 minutes, and Insights learns your personal number over time. Some of you are 30 minute sprinters, a few are genuine 70 minute divers. The default is a starting point, not a rule.

Try it tonight: one 45 minute session, phone face down, notifications paused. Then close the loop and go do something else. That last part is the feature.

Two million sessions later, the data is clear: your best focus block is shorter than you think and easier to repeat.

[20

post-155","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-behind-loop
["GET
