A small bedroom has little floor, little table, and usually one ceiling light that is far too bright at midnight. The trick is to light the bed without lighting the whole room, and to keep surfaces free. These are the five lamps we suggest most often.
Bedside and wall
The Pleat Wall Lamp mounts beside the headboard and frees the bedside table entirely. Its brass arm turns the light toward a book and away from whoever is trying to sleep. The Swing Wall Lamp does the same job with an arm you pull out to read and push back flat against the wall.
For a narrow bedside table, the Stone Bulb Lamp takes up less space than a saucer and gives a soft, low glow. The Dome Lamp suits a desk that doubles as a bedside table, because its shade keeps the light on the surface and out of your eyes.

One lamp that moves
The fifth lamp is the Petal Cordless Lamp. It charges by day and runs for about 12 hours, so it can sit on the windowsill in the evening and come to bed with you later. In a small room, one lamp you can carry is worth two that stay put.
Whatever you choose, fit 2200K bulbs, use a dimmer, and switch the ceiling light off after dinner. A small room lit low feels calm rather than cramped.
