The wool in our Sigrid cardigan and Kari scarf comes from small flocks that graze the islands west of Bergen all year. The sheep are hardy, the fleece is long and springy, and very little of it is dyed.
From fleece to yarn
Shearing happens twice a year. The fleece is washed with plain soap, carded and spun at a family mill an hour up the coast, then wound into skeins in four natural shades from cream to dark grey.
Why we keep it undyed
Undyed wool stays soft, keeps its natural oils and needs less water to make. The shades vary a little from one run to the next, which is why no two Sigrid cardigans are quite the same.
