Architecture and interiors, Oslo

Quiet buildings
for wild places.

We draw cabins, homes and small public rooms shaped by stone, timber and northern light.

The studio

Fjell is nine architects in an old print shop by the Oslo harbour. We spend days on a site before we draw it, build with what the place already has, and plan every room around the low northern sun.

What we do

Our process

Architecture

New buildings from first site visit to handover. We stay on as the client’s architect through construction.

Cabins, homes, public rooms

Interiors

Joinery, lighting and furniture drawn with the building, so the rooms feel finished on the day you move in.

Apartments, studios, retreats

Landscape

Paths, terraces and planting that let a building settle into rock, heath or forest without scars.

Coast, mountain, garden

Site studies

Before you buy or build: what a plot allows, where the light and wind come from, and what it will cost.

Plots, permits, budgets

From our clients

The front of Havhuset, a white angular studio with a single dark door

They spent three days on the island before drawing a single line. The studio now feels like it was always there.

Ingrid Hval, writer, Havhuset

A cantilevered concrete roof over a long stone wall

We asked for a bigger house. They talked us into a smaller one with better rooms, and we have never looked back.

Marit Berge, homeowner, Steinhagen House

A dark timber tower on open autumn moorland

Hikers photograph the tower on the way up and talk about the view from it all the way down.
